NEW VAN 2007

INTRODUCTION

I've finally taken the plunge and sold my beloved Renault Master conversion. I've replaced the "old Master" with this lovely shiny new Master. Some may call me a deserter I know - Turning my back on self building. As such this section of my web page may not interest everyone. However I intend to cover my new adventures in the form of a trips diary. Showing places I visit. Ill include area maps for walks and places of interest just as I did in my previous "trips diary" section.

Ill also cover technical details of my new van as the need arises and look at its systems in more detail. I hope this aspect of these pages maybe of interest to self builders

I bought my new van in October 2007. It's a low profile coach built Lunar Fivestar and is built on the new Renault Master chassis. It has a 6 speed gear box, power steering and an impressive 120 bhp, 2.5L turbo diesel engine. It is quite a bit larger than my old van. Aprox 22 feet long, 7 ft 8 inch wide and just over 9 ft tall externally. But its a real dream to drive. With the addition of a reversing camera, the large mirrors give an excellent rear and side view. Subsequently it took me less than a week to get used to the new dimensions. There are on board fresh and waste water tanks both 95l and an 100l fuel tank. Even when fully laden with fuel, H2O and all my gear the van is fantastically powerful. Despite its size its very easy to handle, with power assisted steering and ABS breaks

Internally the van is very comfortable indeed. It has a fixed rear double bed (with great storage underneath). An L shaped sitting area, which converts into either a second double bed or a breakfast area with large table.

The cassette toilet with swivel seat is separated from the large shower cubicle by a poly glass screen and a full size vanity unit external to the shower area makes for total comfort.

The living area is luxuriously comfortable, with fully thermostatically controlled gas/ elecrical blown air heating and additional convection heating (the van its self being fully winterised).

The Kitchen area has a full oven, grill and 4 burner hob. As well as a full size "dometic" 3 way fridge. Large sink and drainer
