At the heart of the vans electrics is the Zig unit (this model is the CF8) and cost around £100 from :- http://www.rainbowconversions.co.uk/ Essentially it is a battery charging and electrical distribution box, which can be used to manage both a 12volt supply or to charge the batteries via camp site mains hook up. I havnt bothered with the mains hook up at this stage, although I have made provision to do so in the future. At present then my zig unit operates as a split relay charger - that is it charges my leisure batteries (two 110Amp units) from my alternator - the batteries are housed in a separated compartment in the base of my wardrobe. |

The Zig unit has three 10amp fused 12volt out lets - these are connected to a separate fuse box at the back of the van. Hence I have 3 X 10amp out lets subdivided and individually fused for each appliance - Im sure that you must be able to buy this type of fuse box ready made, but I couldn't find anything suitable so I made my own |
