KITCHEN

This section covers the practicalities and considerations of installing appliances and whilst there is an obvious over lap with the SERVICES section of the site, Details regarding Gas, Electricity or Water hook up are not covered in detail in this area of the site

The Kitchen / dinning area comprises of a work area with slide out tables and work surfaces - hence providing ample work surfaces on which to prepare food. The slide out tables are set to accompany the sofa to ensure comfortable dinning.

A SMEV Combination 4 hob/ grill & attached sink / drained was installed (£136) from  :-  http://www.rainbowconversions.co.uk/ (NOTE - grill surround not inclusive (£15, also from Rainbow).

The sink unit butts up to the van window - however a 1cm gap between wood and glass has been left - to allow for glass movement in high winds - this gap has been sealed with a rubber strip. (this technique has been employed were ever wood framework has to come into close proximity with the windows of the van - for example in the shower cubicle).

Other considerations when fitting the hob are - location of gas locker - in relation to electrical installations. (SEE SERVICES PAGE- GAS)

And in the case of the sink unit - consider water tank location and type of pumping device to be used for the water supply. (SEE SERVICES PAGE -WATER).

Water tank - showing run from whale submersible pump to filter . Also Filling hose. NB A second submersible pump has been added for tank emptying.

 Rear Service Area - A 72 liter Fiamma water tank ( £40) - http://www.rainbowconversions.co.uk/ has been installed

The Gas locker designed to house 3 Camping Gaz cylinders (door not yet fitted ) Note the "drop out hole" in the base of the gas locker (SEE SERVICES- GAS)

In view of the additional cost of  installing a 3 way fridge I have had to settle for a 12v coolbox (for now) it occupies the space in which a fridge will eventually be housed! The cool box will suffice for now but is by no means ideal - I can keep food cool for a couple of days - with ice packs - but the motor drags 7.2 amps out of my power supply - so it would be impossible to run it for any length of time whilst static - besides which its too noisy!
